This policy explains what personal data Adverdex collects when you visit adverdex.com or join the waitlist, why, and what you can do about it. It follows the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486). Please also read our Terms of Use.
1. Who we are
adverdex.com is operated by Adverdex (“Adverdex”, “we”, “us”), 82 Shan Sam Pai, Lung Shan Tsuen, Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong. We are the data user responsible for your personal data within the meaning of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (the “PDPO”).
This policy covers this website and the Adverdex waitlist. The Adverdex product will come with its own privacy terms when it launches.
2. Personal Information Collection Statement
When you join the waitlist we tell you the following, as required by Data Protection Principle 1 of the PDPO:
- Obligatory or voluntary. Your email address is required to join the waitlist; without it we cannot add you. The questions on the thank-you page (role, monthly ad spend, niche) are optional.
- Purposes. The purposes listed in section 4, including direct marketing as described in section 5.
- Who may receive it. The classes of persons listed in section 6.
- Access and correction. You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data. Send requests to our Data Protection Officer, support@adverdex.com, 82 Shan Sam Pai, Lung Shan Tsuen, Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong.
3. What we collect
What you give us:
- your email address;
- if you answer them, your role, monthly ad spend range and niche.
What we record automatically when you sign up:
- which form you used, and the date and time;
- your IP address, browser user agent and the referring page;
- whether our emails to you were sent, and whether you have unsubscribed.
We do not ask for your name, phone number or payment details, and we do not run analytics, advertising pixels or third-party trackers on this site. Fonts and images are served from our own server.
4. How we use it
We use your personal data only for these purposes and directly related purposes:
- to put you on the waitlist, confirm your signup and give you early access;
- to send you news about Adverdex, early-access invitations, founding-member offers and ad breakdowns (see section 5);
- to understand who is waiting for Adverdex, so we can decide which niches and features to build first;
- to keep the site secure and stop spam, abuse and automated signups;
- to comply with the law and to establish or defend legal claims.
We will ask for your consent before using your data for any purpose that is not listed here or directly related to it.
5. Direct marketing
Under Part 6A of the PDPO we may only use your personal data in direct marketing with your consent. When you join the waitlist, you agree that we may:
- use your email address, and your role, ad spend range and niche if you shared them,
- to send you emails about Adverdex products and services: early access, launch news, founding-member and subscription offers, and educational content on ad research.
You can withdraw consent at any time, free of charge: use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or write to support@adverdex.com. We will stop sending marketing emails without delay. We keep your email address on a suppression list only so that we do not contact you again.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not provide it to anyone else for their own direct marketing.
Our emails identify us as the sender, give our contact details and include a working unsubscribe link, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance (Cap. 593).
7. Transfers outside Hong Kong
Our servers and email providers may store or process your data outside Hong Kong. Wherever that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data receives protection comparable to what the PDPO provides.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist record for as long as the waitlist and the early-access programme run and for up to 12 months after Adverdex launches publicly, unless you become a customer, in which case the product's privacy terms apply.
If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address and the date you opted out, so we can honour your choice. You can ask us to delete your record at any time by writing to support@adverdex.com.
9. How we protect it
The site is served only over HTTPS. Your data is stored in a database that is not reachable from the internet, under an account that can access the waitlist and nothing else, and only the people who need it to run Adverdex can see it. Backups are kept on the same protected server.
No system is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to put you at real risk of harm, we will tell you and notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data without undue delay.
11. Your rights
Under the PDPO you may:
- ask whether we hold personal data about you and request a copy of it (a data access request);
- ask us to correct data that is inaccurate;
- withdraw your consent to direct marketing at any time;
- ask us to delete your data or to explain our policies and practices.
Write to support@adverdex.com. We will reply within 40 days, as section 19 of the PDPO requires. We may charge a fee for a data access request, which will not be excessive, and we may refuse a request in the cases the PDPO allows, telling you why.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong.
12. Children
Adverdex is a tool for professionals and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Adverdex grows. We will change the date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant, for example a new purpose or a new class of recipients, we will email you before it applies. We will not use your data for a new direct-marketing purpose without asking you first.
